Tour Overview

Drifika Peak Climbing Expedition offers an opportunity to attempt one of the 6,000m peaks of the Karakoram through the Nangma Valley approach. At 6,447 metres, Drifika requires considerably more than ordinary trekking experience, with participants expected to have appropriate mountaineering skills and experience with high-altitude climbing. The journey starts in Islamabad, followed by a flight to Skardu and road travel to Kanday Village. From Kanday, the expedition proceeds on foot through Nangma Valley to Drifika Base Camp. The climbing phase includes acclimatization and movement to higher camps before the summit attempt. The expedition is planned for 21 days, including a dedicated weather/contingency day. Because mountain conditions can change rapidly, the summit date is not fixed and the final ascent will be determined by the expedition leader according to weather, route conditions and team safety. Duration: 21 Days Maximum Elevation: 6,447m / 21,152ft Region: Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan Mountain Range: Karakoram Approach: Kanday – Nangma Valley Starting Point: Islamabad Difficulty: Technical / Advanced Mountaineering Best Season: Generally June–August, subject to mountain and weather conditions.
