Rush Peak Expedition (5098m)

Arrive at Islamabad International Airport, where our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in and rest, there will be a briefing covering the expedition route, weather, equipment, safety procedures and upcoming mountain section. If time permits, enjoy a short orientation of Islamabad.

Early morning departure from Islamabad towards Chilas via the Karakoram Highway. The journey follows the Indus River through the mountainous landscape of northern Pakistan. Depending on seasonal road conditions, the route may use Babusar Pass when open; otherwise, travel continues via the KKH and Besham. This is a long road journey, so the day is primarily dedicated to travel and rest.

Continue north along the Karakoram Highway towards Hunza. The road passes through spectacular mountain scenery, including views of the Indus and Gilgit rivers and the surrounding Karakoram peaks. Arrive in Karimabad, check into the hotel and rest. If time permits, take a short walk around Karimabad Bazaar.

A dedicated acclimatization and preparation day in Hunza. After breakfast, visit selected local attractions such as Baltit Fort, Karimabad Bazaar or Altit area, depending on the final expedition schedule. The team will conduct a final equipment check and prepare trekking loads and camping equipment for the Rush Peak section. This rest day is important before moving rapidly to higher elevations.

Drive from Karimabad towards Hopar Valley in Nagar. After reaching the trailhead, begin the trek towards the first mountain camp. The route enters the remote alpine landscape of the Hopar region, with spectacular views of surrounding glaciers and Karakoram peaks. Continue towards Baricho Kor, where the expedition establishes its first camp.

After breakfast, begin the climb towards the higher camps. The trail gradually gains elevation through alpine terrain and mountain pastures. This is an important acclimatization day as the expedition moves above 4,000m. Continue to Chidin Harai, one of the high camps on the route.

After an early breakfast, continue towards Rush Lake. The trail climbs through increasingly rugged high-altitude terrain before reaching the spectacular turquoise lake surrounded by the Karakoram. Arrive at Rush Lake and establish camp. The remainder of the afternoon is for rest, hydration and acclimatization.

Dedicated acclimatization day. No major trekking is planned today. The team will rest around Rush Lake, undertake short acclimatization walks and prepare for the summit attempt. The guide will assess weather, snow conditions, team condition and equipment before confirming the summit plan.

Start very early, normally before sunrise, for the ascent of Rush Peak (5,098m). The climb involves steep high-altitude terrain and requires good physical condition, careful pacing and appropriate equipment. Depending on current conditions, sections may require additional mountain equipment and technical precautions. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views across the Karakoram, including Spantik, Malubiting, Miar, Golden Peak, Rakaposhi and Ultar, with distant views of the higher Karakoram peaks possible in clear weather. After spending appropriate time at the summit, descend carefully to Rush Lake.

Reserve summit and weather day. This day provides flexibility in case Day 9 is affected by poor weather, snow conditions or other mountain factors. If the summit has already been completed, use the day for recovery, photography and additional acclimatization before descending.

Begin the descent from Rush Lake. The return journey follows the mountain trail back towards the lower camps. Descending gradually allows the team to recover from the summit attempt. Continue to Baricho Kor for overnight camping.

Continue descending towards Hopar Valley. After reaching Hopar, meet the vehicle and drive back towards Hunza. Enjoy a well-earned hot shower and comfortable hotel accommodation after the mountain section.

A relaxed recovery day in Hunza after the expedition. Depending on the group's interests and time, explore: Baltit Fort Altit Fort Karimabad Bazaar Local villages Traditional Hunza culture and scenery This day also provides additional flexibility in case of minor delays during the trekking section.

Begin the return journey south along the Karakoram Highway. Enjoy the changing mountain scenery as the route follows the Hunza and Gilgit rivers before continuing towards Chilas. Rest at the hotel upon arrival.

Early morning departure from Chilas for Islamabad. Continue via the Karakoram Highway/Besham route, with the exact route depending on road and seasonal conditions. Arrive in Islamabad and transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your onward flight or continue to your Islamabad hotel if your international flight is scheduled for the following day.
