Arrival in Gilgit – Transfer to Hunza Valley Upon arrival at Gilgit Airport, or after completing the drive from Islamabad, meet your guide and begin the scenic journey to Hunza Valley via the legendary Karakoram Highway. The drive follows the Gilgit River and passes through dramatic mountain landscapes, traditional villages, and fertile valleys. En route, stop at the famous Rakaposhi View Point to admire one of the most beautiful 7,000-meter peaks in the Karakoram. Continue towards Karimabad, the cultural heart of Hunza Valley, and check in at your hotel. After breakfast, visit the magnificent Baltit Fort, a centuries-old royal residence overlooking Karimabad and the surrounding peaks. Explore the fort's traditional architecture and learn about the history of the former rulers of Hunza. Continue to Altit Fort, one of the oldest monuments in Gilgit-Baltistan, situated above the Hunza River. Walk through the restored Altit Village and Royal Garden, where narrow stone pathways and traditional homes reflect the valley's rich heritage. Early in the morning, drive to Eagle’s Nest in Duikar, one of Hunza’s most famous viewpoints. Enjoy panoramic views of Rakaposhi, Diran Peak, Ultar Sar, Golden Peak, and Lady Finger Peak. After breakfast, cross the Hunza River into Nagar Valley and drive to Hopper Valley. From the viewpoint, witness the spectacular Hopper and Bualtar glaciers surrounded by snow-covered peaks. After breakfast, drive along the Karakoram Highway towards Upper Hunza. Stop at the stunning Attabad Lake, famous for its turquoise waters formed after the 2010 landslide. Optional boating activities may be arranged. Continue through the Pak-China Friendship Tunnels to Gulmit and Passu. Visit the iconic Passu Cones, among the most photographed mountain formations in Pakistan. Explore the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge and enjoy views of the surrounding glaciers and valleys. Today, enjoy a full-day excursion to Khunjerab Pass (4,693m), the highest paved international border crossing in the world, located within Khunjerab National Park. Drive along the Karakoram Highway through Sost, Pakistan’s border town, while passing through high-altitude landscapes and wildlife habitats. Depending on conditions, visitors may spot ibex, marmots, or yaks. Spend time at the Pakistan-China border monument and enjoy the dramatic mountain scenery before returning to Hunza in the evening. Day 6: Borith Lake, Passu Glacier & Upper Hunza Adventure After breakfast, begin the day with a drive towards Borith Lake, a peaceful high-altitude lake located in Upper Hunza near Gulmit and Passu. Leave the main Karakoram Highway and follow the road towards the lake, enjoying views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Spend some time around Borith Lake before continuing towards the Passu Glacier area. Depending on weather, trail and local conditions, take a guided walk towards the glacier viewpoint and experience the dramatic landscape of ice, rock and towering Karakoram peaks. The area provides a completely different experience from the main tourist attractions and offers excellent opportunities for photography and nature observation. After the glacier experience, return towards Gulmit or Passu for lunch and spend the afternoon exploring one of the traditional villages of Upper Hunza. Walk through the narrow village lanes, observe traditional stone-and-wood houses, and experience the quieter side of Hunza away from the main tourist route. If conditions and time permit, enjoy a short scenic walk around the village or nearby viewpoints before returning to your accommodation. Spend the evening relaxing in the mountains and enjoying views of the surrounding peaks.
