Islamabad to Skardu by Flight (45 mins)
Transfer to Islamabad Airport for domestic flight to Skardu - spectacular views of Nanga Parbat 8,126m, K2 range. If flight cancelled (40% chance), drive via KKH with overnight Besham/Chilas - we have backup. Upon arrival Skardu (2,500m), meet guide, check in hotel. Afternoon: Skardu bazaar, Manthal Buddha Rock 8th century carving.
Skardu Valley: Shangrila, Kachura & Shigar Fort
Morning: Upper Kachura Lake & Shangrila (Lower Kachura) Lake - most beautiful lakes in Baltistan, Shangrila Resort. Afternoon: Drive to Shigar Valley (1 hr). Visit Shigar Fort 400 years old - restored by Aga Khan, now Serena Hotel, see Balti woodwork, old mosque. Shigar Cold Desert - sand dunes with 6,000m peaks background, jeep safari.
Deosai National Park Full Day
Deosai National Park Full Day (Highlight) Early departure for Deosai National Park - 2 hrs drive to Deosai Top 4,114m. Full day crossing Deosai plateau - world's 2nd highest plateau after Tibet, 3,000 km² of wildflowers in July-Aug, Himalayan brown bear habitat, marmots, golden eagles. Stop at Bara Pani, Kala Pani, Sheosar Lake - one of highest lakes at 4,142m. Picnic lunch. Continue to Astore side or return to Skardu depending on road. Overnight Skardu (or Astore if crossing).
Skardu to Gilgit (4-5 hrs)
Skardu to Gilgit (6-7 hrs) Drive Skardu to Gilgit via Indus Valley, dramatic gorges. Stop at confluence of Indus & Gilgit rivers. Arrive Gilgit, explore Gilgit bazaar. Overnight Gilgit - Riveria Hotel.
Gilgit to Hunza via Rakaposhi (2.5 hrs)
Drive KKH to Hunza - stop Rakaposhi Viewpoint 7,788m - best viewpoint of Rakaposhi. Arrive Karimabad, check in. Afternoon: Baltit Fort 700 years - former residence of Mir of Hunza, museum, views of Ultar Peak. Karimabad bazaar. Overnight Hunza - Old Hunza Inn / Hunza Embassy.
Altit Fort, Eagle's Nest & Attabad Lake
Morning: Altit Fort 900 years - oldest fort in Hunza, Tibetan architecture, royal garden. Altit village walk. Drive to Duikar / Eagle's Nest - 10 mins hike to viewpoint, panoramic sunset over Hunza Valley, Rakaposhi, Ladyfinger, Ultar - best sunset in Pakistan (4,000m+ peaks golden). Afternoon: Attabad Lake - 21km turquoise lake formed 2010 landslide, boating option.
Passu Cones & Hussaini Bridge
Drive to Upper Hunza Gojal: Passu Cones - 6,000m cathedral-like peaks, most photographed in Pakistan. Passu Glacier viewpoint. Hussaini village - Hussaini Suspension Bridge - one of world's most dangerous bridges, 400m long over Hunza River, experience. Ghulkin & Gulmit villages.
Khunjerab Pass Excursion 4,693m (Highlight)
