A winter celebration on the world's highest cold desert - camel racing, Balti folk music and snow-dusted dunes.
Held every winter on the dunes of the Katpana Cold Desert - the world's highest cold desert - the Skardu Desert Festival is a unique celebration of Balti culture.
Festivities include camel and donkey racing across the dunes, traditional Balti folk music and dance, food bazaars and a colourful parade, all set against the surreal backdrop of sand dunes dusted with snow and the peaks of the Karakoram range.
The festival is a highlight of the Skardu winter season and a photographer's dream.
