Expedition Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before joining a high-altitude expedition in Pakistan.
Which peaks in Pakistan are open for expeditions?
Pakistan has five of the world's fourteen 8000m peaks — K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum 1, Gasherbrum 2 and Broad Peak — plus hundreds of 7000m and 6000m summits and world-class alpine rock climbs. All are open to foreign climbers with the right permits, which we arrange as part of every expedition package.
What permits do I need to climb in Pakistan?
Foreign climbers need a trekking/climbing permit issued by the Alpine Club of Pakistan, which is priced by peak height and climbing season. We handle the full permit process, royalties, liaison officer arrangements and restricted-area approvals so you can focus on your climb.
Do I need previous high-altitude experience?
8000m and 7000m expeditions require prior experience at altitude, usually with summits above 6000m and good proficiency with technical gear and fixed ropes. Our 6000m climbs and rock-climbing expeditions are suited to advanced mountaineers building their resume toward higher peaks.
What is the best season to climb in the Karakoram?
The main climbing season runs from late June to early August, when the weather window on K2 and the other 8000m peaks opens. Some 6000m and 7000m peaks are also climbable in spring and autumn. We recommend booking permits and logistics 6 to 12 months ahead.
What is included in an expedition package?
Every package covers climbing permits, base camp setup, high-altitude porters and Sherpas, food, oxygen supply for 8000m expeditions, and experienced Sirdar-led guiding teams. Contact us for a full itinerary and breakdown for your chosen peak.
